Dubai fares from UK peak sharply during December, Dubai Shopping Festival and school holidays so book early to secure the best price
For Christmas, New Year and Dubai Shopping Festival, 10–14 weeks ahead is the sweet spot. Emirates A380 business class and premium economy on this route sell first. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic also fill up well in advance for festive season departures.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday departures on UK-Dubai routes are consistently 15–25% cheaper than Friday and Saturday flights. On a popular route like London Heathrow to Dubai, that flexibility can save £80–£150 per person on return fares.
For group bookings of 4 or more, calling TripNext directly often unlocks fares not available online. We know the Dubai routes inside out — including which carriers release last-minute seats and when Emirates’ sale fares go live.
Everything you need to know before you fly from the UK to Dubai International Airport
Dubai is consistently one of the world’s most visited cities, attracting over 17 million international tourists each year. UK visitors are the largest inbound market, drawn by year-round sunshine, world-class shopping, luxury resorts and extraordinary attractions packed into a compact, safe and easy-to-navigate destination.
From the Burj Khalifa observation deck and Dubai Mall to Palm Jumeirah, Desert Safari experiences and the iconic Dubai Frame, the city delivers an unmatched concentration of experiences. With direct flights from London taking under 7 hours, Dubai is perfectly positioned as a long weekend break, a two-week winter sun holiday or a family half-term escape.
Dubai and the UAE are home to hundreds of thousands of British expats, making UK-Dubai one of the most heavily travelled visiting-friends-and-relatives (VFR) routes in the world. UK families visiting relatives in Dubai benefit from Emirates’ generous baggage allowance (up to 35kg economy), six direct UK airports served daily, and excellent inflight entertainment for children on A380 services.
Dubai is also exceptionally family-friendly on the ground — with world-class theme parks (IMG Worlds, Legoland Dubai, Motiongate), water parks (Wild Wadi, Atlantis Aquaventure), indoor skiing and an extraordinary range of family dining and accommodation options at every price point.
Dubai is the Middle East and Africa’s leading business hub, hosting the DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre), the world’s busiest international airport and the headquarters of thousands of multinational companies. The city attracts UK business travellers for meetings, trade shows, GITEX Technology Week, Arab Health, Big 5 Construction and the World Future Energy Summit.
Emirates Business Class on the A380 upper deck and Boeing 777 is widely regarded as one of the world’s best business class products. For UK travellers based outside London, Emirates’ direct regional services from Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle provide exceptional convenience and competitive business class pricing without travelling to Heathrow.

Good news — UK citizens don’t need a pre-arranged visa for Dubai, but there are important entry rules to know
Entry requirements can change. Always verify the latest visa and entry rules on the official UAE government immigration website (icp.gov.ae) and the UK government's foreign travel advice page (gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/united-arab-emirates) before booking. Call TripNext on +44 7478 061159, send a WhatsApp message to +44 20 3370 6756, or fill in the booking form on this page. Our Dubai flight specialists compare all fares across Emirates, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Turkish Airlines and more to find you the best available price — including fares not always visible online.
Yes. Multiple airlines operate direct (non-stop) flights from UK airports to Dubai International Airport (DXB). Emirates flies direct from London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle and Edinburgh. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly direct from London Heathrow. The shortest flight time is Heathrow to Dubai at approximately 6 hours 45 minutes.
London Heathrow has the most choice with Emirates, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic all flying direct to Dubai. However, if you live in the North or Midlands, Emirates’ direct services from Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle often match or beat Heathrow fares once you factor in the cost of getting to London. We always compare all departure airports when you call us.
June, July and August are the cheapest months for UK-Dubai flights as these are Dubai’s extreme summer months. November through March is peak season (Dubai’s winter, Dubai Shopping Festival, Christmas and New Year) with the highest fares. Booking mid-week (Monday to Wednesday) saves an additional 15–25% year-round.
No. UK citizens receive a free 30-day visa on arrival at Dubai International Airport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from entry. The visa can be extended for a further 30 days. Dubai has strict customs rules, including restrictions on certain medications — always check gov.uk before travelling.
Book Christmas and New Year flights to Dubai at least 14–18 weeks in advance — ideally by September for December travel. December in Dubai coincides with the Dubai Shopping Festival, making it the busiest period on this route. Emirates A380 business class and premium economy sell out particularly early. TripNext can alert you when fares drop to your target price.
The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) is an annual retail and entertainment event running December through January, featuring massive discounts across Dubai’s malls including Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates, as well as fireworks, live concerts and hospitality offers. DSF 2026/27 is expected to run December 2026 to January 2027. This is the most popular period for UK visitors and seats sell fast — book early.
Emirates includes checked baggage in the base fare for UK-Dubai economy tickets. Standard economy allowance is 25kg to 35kg depending on fare class — no additional charge if within your allowance. This makes Emirates significantly better value than budget carriers which charge extra for bags. Business class allows 40kg and First Class 50kg. Confirm your exact allowance when booking.
