You fly into King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah — the airport closest to Makkah, approximately 80–90km away. From Jeddah airport, your pre-arranged Makkah transfer (included in all Tripnext Umrah packages) takes you to your Makkah hotel in 60–90 minutes. There is no civilian airport in Makkah itself.
No. Makkah is restricted to Muslims only. Non-Muslims are not permitted to enter Makkah, regardless of visa type or nationality. All pilgrims performing Umrah must be Muslim and must hold an Umrah visa. Non-Muslims can visit Jeddah, Riyadh and other Saudi cities on a tourist visa, but not Makkah or Madinah city centres.
London to Jeddah is approximately 6 hours 30 minutes to 7 hours direct (Saudia, British Airways). Connecting flights via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul take 9–13 hours total. From Manchester, Birmingham or Leeds Bradford, connecting flight times are 9–14 hours depending on the airline and layover. Add 60–90 minutes road transfer from Jeddah airport to your Makkah hotel.
September, October and November are the cheapest months for Makkah Umrah flights from the UK. Early February (before Ramadan begins) also offers good value. Avoid Ramadan, Hajj season, UK school summer holidays and December–January for budget travel. Fares can be 40–60% higher during Ramadan compared to off-peak Umrah periods.
Women under 45 must travel with a Mahram (male guardian) or as part of a registered organised group for Makkah Umrah. Women over 45 can perform Umrah in Makkah as part of an organised group without a Mahram under updated Saudi regulations.
