Ramadan flights from UK to Saudi Arabia sell out fast so book 4–5 months ahead to secure the best fares and hotels
For the last 10 nights of Ramadan and Laylat al-Qadr travel, 4–5 months is the minimum lead time. Makkah hotels within 500m of Masjid al-Haram fill by October for the following year’s Ramadan.
Tuesday and Wednesday departures outside of peak Ramadan weeks can be up to 25% cheaper than Friday and Saturday. Flexibility on travel dates saves significantly on Umrah packages.
For group Umrah bookings of 6 or more, calling TripNext directly often unlocks hotel rates and flight fares unavailable online. Mosque groups, family parties and corporate Umrah trips all qualify.
Everything you need to know about Saudi Arabia before you fly
Saudi Arabia is the spiritual heartland of Islam and the most important destination for the UK’s Muslim community. Every year, hundreds of thousands of British Muslims travel to Makkah and Madinah to perform Umrah — a deeply personal spiritual journey that can be undertaken at any time of year outside the Hajj season. TripNext specialises in Umrah travel, offering flight-only bookings and complete packages with hotel accommodation close to the Holy Mosques.
The most popular Umrah periods from the UK are Ramadan, school half-terms and the winter holiday season. Our specialists know which airlines offer the best value on Jeddah and Medina routes, how to secure Umrah visas efficiently and which hotels offer the best balance of proximity to Masjid al-Haram and value for money. Call us to discuss your Umrah plans — no obligation, no booking fees.
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic transformation has made Riyadh and Jeddah major destinations for UK business travellers. The Kingdom’s capital Riyadh hosts major international conferences, NEOM developments and bilateral trade delegations year-round. British Airways operates direct London Heathrow to Riyadh services, while Saudia and Qatar Airways offer competitive business class options via their hubs.
For business class travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar Airways via Doha’s QSuites and Saudia’s Business Class on direct London flights are consistently the top-rated options. Book 6–8 weeks ahead for the best business class availability and consider flexible fare options when travel dates are uncertain.
Saudi Arabia is rapidly opening to international tourism with its AlUla heritage site, Red Sea coastal resorts and Riyadh’s entertainment districts all accessible on visitor visas. January through March offer pleasant temperatures for exploring Diriyah, the ancient capital, and the Hegra UNESCO World Heritage Site in AlUla. September and October are ideal for Red Sea diving at Tabuk and NEOM coastal areas.
Budget leisure travellers should look at Turkish Airlines via Istanbul and flydubai connections from Birmingham and Manchester — these connecting routes consistently offer fares £100–£200 lower than direct options and are well-suited to those with flexible travel dates.

Saudia, British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Etihad and flydubai all operate routes. Saudia offers the most generous baggage allowance (40kg). Direct flights operate from London Heathrow. All other UK airports are served via connecting hubs including Dubai, Doha, Istanbul and Abu Dhabi.
Yes. Umrah requires a specific Umrah visa, which is different to a tourist or business visa. Umrah visas are issued exclusively through authorised Umrah operators. As part of TripNext Umrah packages, we process the Umrah visa application on your behalf through official Saudi channels. Do not attempt to enter Saudi Arabia for Umrah on a tourist visa.
London to Riyadh is approximately 6 hours 45 minutes direct. London to Jeddah takes approximately 6 hours 30 to 7 hours direct. Connecting flights via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul take 9–13 hours total depending on layover. Medina (Madinah) is served via Jeddah or direct connecting services.
September, October and November are the cheapest months. Early February outside Ramadan also offers good value. Avoid Ramadan, Hajj season, UK school summer holidays and December–January for budget travel. Fares can be 40–60% higher during Ramadan compared to low-season prices.
Women under 45 must travel with a Mahram (male guardian) or as part of an organised group under new Saudi regulations. Women over 45 can now perform Umrah as part of an organised group without a Mahram. TripNext offers female-only Umrah group tours and fully organised packages to accommodate all travellers. Call us to discuss your specific situation.
For Ramadan Umrah, book at least 4 to 5 months in advance. Makkah hotels within 500m of Masjid al-Haram fill very quickly. Fares increase sharply 10–12 weeks before Ramadan begins. For the last 10 nights of Ramadan, packages are sometimes fully sold out 6 months ahead. Call TripNext as early as possible.
Saudia allows 40kg in economy — the most generous allowance. Emirates and Qatar Airways typically allow 30kg. British Airways allows 23kg. For Umrah packages booked through TripNext, we advise on the best airline for your specific baggage needs. Excess baggage on Saudi routes is expensive, so choosing the right airline matters.
